Tsiakwawennatónhe’ts Language Program

Our mission at Tsiakwawennatónhe’ts is to re-ignite the life fire of our language by returning to the multi-generational and nurturing familial approach of language and culture acquisition thus, reversing the historical impacts of the residential school system.

Humble Beginnings

Tsiakwawennatónhe’ts is a Mohawk language and cultural initiative based out of the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory that started in September 2022. Tsiakwawennatónhe’ts started operating out of the Kanien’kehaka Kaianereh’kowa Kanonsesneh Cookhouse and is extremely grateful to their early and ongoing support.

Tsiakwawennatónhe’ts uses classroom instruction to review curriculum and then apply the language to hands-on and land-based activities to optimize students language acquisition.
